Facilities

The Zandstra lab has a large (almost 10,000 square feet), modern laboratory in the Terrence Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research (CCBR) on the University of Toronto downtown (St Georges) campus. The lab, on the 11th floor of the CCBR, is shared with two other labs focusing on stem cell biology and bioengineering.  The lab is run as an open concept, interdisciplinary, shared resource facility. It is very well equipped with state-of-the-art cell and molecular biology equipment including cell type specific tissue culturing facilities, real-time PCR machines, protein and cell imaging systems, and computers, all directly connected to the University's high-speed system and core computing infrastructure. Specialized equipment includes and several state-of-the-art microscopes, oxygen controlled incubators, two analytical flow cytometers and one flow sorter, automated high-content screening microscopes, micro-fabrication and 3D printing equipment, and bioreactors and controllers capable of generating cells under regulated conditions in volumes from 5-5000mL.
